Today is the last day of the year 2022. Most people won’t shed a tear for this particular year. Tomorrow, January 1, 2023, and the twelve months we have to face are ahead. One way or another, there is no way around it because the hands of the clock always tick the same and never stop. The new year. What will it bring us? Will it be a good one? Will Corona be over soon? Will the war in Ukraine finally end? What faces will it show us? Questions over questions occupy us at the start of the next twelve months. Do you also have that feeling of a new start at the beginning of the year? As if you press the reset button, and everything starts all over again? Never has that desire been greater.
Winter has just begun in January, but the days are already getting longer. The sun sets two minutes later every day, and enough people don’t like this dark time. Why not? I find the short days as beautiful as the long ones in high summer. Each season has its charms, and the early sunset creates such a feeling that it is much cozier in the cozy heated living room than in summer. We’ll be mostly indoors for the next few weeks, although it’s lovely outdoors, too. It may be snowing, and the mountains invite us to go sledding. Or the lakes will ice up so we can ice skate on them. Whether it comes to that remains to be seen. Maybe we will have a more severe winter than in the years before. That would be nice!
Spring is coming sooner than we thought. Emotionally and meteorologically, it starts on March 1, and the first buds appear on the trees. News – The magazine heralds the gardening season, and we gradually wake up from winter dormancy. It’s time to get outside again; the sun is warming up quite well and getting darker noticeably later in the evenings. Easter is at the beginning of April, and in May, we are finally in the mode of the warm season with the asparagus season. In no time at all, it is June – and we have summer. For many, the time to take an extended vacation.
In June, nature is in full glory. Pay attention to the fresh green of the leaves, which look so powerful. A fantastic season lies ahead of us – with barbecues on the terrace, visits to the outdoor pool, bike rides or the beer gardens of the season. We are drawn to the lakes, and the time of the street cafés also begins. The sweaters finally end up in the closet, and in shorts, it is good to stay out. In July, the thermometer climbs to more than 30 degrees. A certain lightness is noticeable, and it seems like such a summer can never end.
But that’s what happens. It may not yet feel like September, which heralds the meteorological fall, but by mid-October at the latest, the warmer days are finally over. Occasionally we still get a few intense rays of sunshine, but the days are already getting noticeably shorter again. Gradually, the garden furniture disappears, and without us noticing it, it’s time to turn on the heating and crawl back into the living room. Outside, November follows – perhaps with wind and weather, before the Advent season gets us in the mood for Christmas again. Then the year is already over, and the circle closes. And you see: Everything begins again. That’s how it is and how it will stay. But the most important thing is that we all stay healthy.
